The municipal district of Calpe is marked by the impressive Peñon De Ifach, an unmistakable sight on the Costa Blanca. The Peñon has been turned into a Nature Park in 1987 and provides shelter for a variety of plants, such as the rockrose, tree germander and the Ifach mushroom. This immense rock, towering to 332 metres, juts out into the sea to the Punto de Carallot.

The Peñon De Ifach outcrop divides the Calpe coast, which is made up of beaches, inlets and cliffs, into two wide, very sheltered bays, with facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of swimmers and at the same time provide them with a wide range of leisure activity and entertainment:

Rock climbing and or Hiking

The climbing in the Costa Blanca is all on limestone (hence Costa Blanca meaning White Coast). The crags range from a single pitch, generously bolted, sport routes to almost alpine sized mountain routes with natural gear. Some of the climbing is of true classic nature: Penon D’Ifach, a thousand foot solid lump of rock sticks straight up out of the sea and towers over Calpe.

Sierra de Olta, Calpe

This circular route takes us around a small, mountainous elevation just on the outskirts of Calpe. The route includes a visit to a quaint, little church and picnic area. With views over and down towards the famous Mascarat Gorge, and views up to the amazing Sierra Bernia, and of course over to Calpe’s Peñon D’Ifach. A relatively easy route but with all the views!

The Costa Blanca and Alicante region is a great place for cycling and is a popular training base for professional cycling teams in the winter. It has a sunny and warm climate throughout the year and has superb mountains for cycling, offering a wide range of climbs of differing lengths and gradients.

The road surfaces are almost all fantastic and if you go to the right areas you will encounter very little traffic. In addition, the region is served by Alicante airport, which is linked to many European destinations.

Water Activities

Scuba diving, Paddle Surf, Windsurf and much much more, the climate in and around Calpe is magnificent nearly all year round, so basically anything you enjoy doing in great climate Calpe is the place for you!
